On December 8th, we held an online interdisciplinary research workshop between the doctoral students of Chulalongkorn University (a partner university of Nagoya University) and Nagoya University. A total of 10 doctoral students from both universities participated. The objective of the workshop was to enhance interaction and networking among researchers from different fields and countries, broaden their perspectives, and create opportunities for future interdisciplinary research.
The participants’ research areas included business, politics, science, engineering, environmental studies, bioagricultural sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, and more. They presented their research followed by a Q&A session and small-group discussions. Many presenters made strong efforts to make their research easy to understand for students outside their fields by preparing clear and engaging slides.
The post-event survey shows that 100% of the participants answered either “Very satisfied” or “Satisfied,” and 100% indicated that they would like to join a similar event again. The comments below show that participants were stimulated by hearing presentations from researchers in other fields and were able to broaden their perspectives. We plan to hold a similar event in AY2026, expanding both the schedule and the range of participants.
