研究を進めるうえでは、自分の専門分野を深めるだけでなく、異なる専門性をもつ人と対話し、多様な知識や視点を結びつけながら、新しい研究の問いやアイデアを生み出す力も重要です。
「異分野コラボレーションスキル演習Ⅱ」では、異なる分野の大学院生との対話や協働を通して、「伝える」「聞く」「つなぐ」「創る」という4つの力を実践的に身につけます。
授業では、まず自分の研究や、自分の研究にとって重要な論文を専門外の学生に紹介する活動を行います。専門知識を前提としない相手に「何を研究しているのか」「どこが面白いのか」「どのような意義があるのか」を伝えることを通して、自分の研究の伝え方を磨きます。
同時に、他分野の学生の研究を聞き、相手の研究をより深く理解したり、新しい視点や可能性を引き出したりするための質問についても学びます。発表と質疑、相互フィードバックを繰り返しながら、「伝える力」と「聞く・質問する力」の両方を鍛えていきます。
さらに、同じ課題について異なる専門分野からアプローチし、問題の捉え方、注目する点、研究方法、重視する価値などを比較する活動を行います。他分野との違いを知ることは、自分自身の専門性の特徴を改めて理解する機会にもなります。
授業の後半では、複数の研究から対象・視点・方法などの要素を取り出して組み合わせ、新しい研究の問いや異分野融合研究のアイデアを発想します。さらに、異なる専門性をもつメンバーとの対話やフィードバックを通して、アイデアを具体的な研究案へと発展させていきます。
このような一連の活動を通して、他分野の研究を知るだけではなく、他者からの質問や自分とは異なる視点を手がかりに、自分の研究の面白さ、独自性、意義や可能性を捉え直すことも、この授業の大きなねらいです。
授業は基本的に英語で行いますが、高度な英語力は必要ありません。日本人教員が必要に応じてサポートし、講義も理解しやすいようスライドを用意します。
英語に自信がない学生も、実際に英語を使いながらコミュニケーション力を高める機会として参加できます。日本語を話さない留学生も歓迎します。
また、完成された研究成果は必要ありません。分からないことを率直に質問し、自分の考えを試しながら、異なる分野の見方や考え方に触れることを大切にする授業です。
When conducting research, it is important not only to deepen expertise in one’s own field, but also to engage in dialogue with people from different academic backgrounds and to connect diverse knowledge and perspectives in order to generate new research questions and ideas.
In Interdisciplinary Collaboration Skills II, students will develop four key abilities through dialogue and collaboration with graduate students from different disciplines: Communicate, Ask, Connect, and Create.
In the course, students will first introduce their own research and key papers related to their research to students outside their field.
By explaining what their research is about, what makes it interesting, and why it matters to an audience without specialized knowledge, students will develop their ability to communicate their research clearly and effectively.
At the same time, students will listen to research from other fields and learn how to ask questions that deepen their understanding and bring out new perspectives and possibilities.
Through presentations, Q&A sessions, and peer feedback, students will strengthen both their communication and questioning skills.
Students will also approach the same topic from different disciplinary perspectives and compare how they frame the problem, what they focus on, which research methods they use, and what they value.
Exploring these differences will also provide an opportunity for students to reconsider the distinctive features of their own expertise.
In the second half of the course, students will combine elements such as research subjects, perspectives, and methods from different fields to generate new research questions and interdisciplinary research ideas.
Through dialogue and feedback with students from different academic backgrounds, they will then develop these ideas into more concrete research proposals.
Through this series of activities, students will not only learn about research in other fields, but also reconsider the appeal, originality, significance, and potential of their own research by drawing on questions and perspectives from others.
Students do not need to have completed research results to participate.
The course encourages students to ask questions openly, try out their ideas, and enjoy encountering different perspectives and ways of thinking.
