Ever felt that explaining your research to people from other fields is harder than expected — and understanding theirs isn’t easy either?
This event invites graduate students to step outside the lab and talk about research in a different way.
Instead of focusing on results or papers, we share how we think, how we approach problems, and how we use methods in our own fields — in a relaxed and friendly setting.
To help organize ideas, participants will use a short and simple template called the Research Paradigm Canvas (RPC). Think of it as a conversation guide that makes it easier to explain your field to people who don’t share your background.
As a starting point, you’ll choose one familiar theme — Time, Food, Noise, Home, Balance, or Boundary — and explore how your discipline’s methods connect to it.
There’s no “right answer”; the goal is simply to link research ideas to the real world in a more tangible way.
Through small-group conversations, you can discover how other fields think, gain fresh perspectives on your own research, and meet people beyond your lab.
If you’re curious about other disciplines, enjoy exchanging ideas in English, or just want to try something different, this event is for you.

本イベントは、大学院生が研究室の外に一歩踏み出し、研究について少し違った形で語り合うカジュアルな交流イベントです。
研究成果や論文発表ではなく、「どのように考え、どのように問題に向き合い、どんな方法を使っているのか」に注目します。
参加者は、 “Research Paradigm Canvas（RPC）”という短くシンプルなテンプレートを使って、自分の分野の考え方や研究スタイルを整理します。
RPCは、専門外の人と話すための“会話のガイド”のようなものです。
話のきっかけとして、「時間／食べ物／ノイズ／家／バランス／境界」といった身近なテーマを一つ選び、自分の分野の方法がどのようにつながるかを考えます。
正解はありません。
研究を現実世界と結びつけて、少し身近に感じることが目的です。
少人数での対話を通して、他分野の考え方に触れたり、自分の研究を新しい視点で見直したり、研究室や専攻を越えたつながりを作ることができます。
英語で気軽に交流したい方や、何か新しい刺激が欲しい方におすすめのイベントです。
