This two-semester course is specifically designed for graduate students who are planning to write a research paper – e.g. dissertation, journal paper, conference paper, conference abstract, etc. It will teach you how to write the paper from scratch, and aims to help you accomplish, among other things, the most crucial tasks in the research writing process; namely (i) developing a clear thesis statement – i.e. the central idea of your research, (ii) building a logical argument to support the thesis statement, (iii) integrating the thesis statement and logical argument into a full-blown research paper. The first semester of the course focuses on (i) and (ii), and the second semester focuses on (iii). For details about the lessons in each semester, see the course content below. All lessons will be delivered in clearly spoken English, through a simplified and entertaining manner that can be readily understood and enjoyed by everyone. After successfully completing the entire course, you should be in a good position to complete and send your paper for publication.
