<About the presentation>

●Speaker: Shota Matsunaga(Graduate School of Medicine)
●Title:
 Nonrestorative Sleep and Healthcare Costs
●Detail:
Many people have experienced waking up in the morning without feeling refreshed, or feeling tired despite having slept. This type of unrefreshing sleep is known as nonrestorative sleep (NRS). Although NRS is not a clinical sleep disorder, it is recognized as a risk factor for a range of physical and mental health conditions. In this presentation, we will explore the association between NRS and healthcare costs, with a focus on the economic consequences beyond disease onset.

Speaker:Tianliang Yang (Graduate School of Science)
●Title: What Happens at Middle and Upper Atmosphere During a Solar Eclipse: Satellite Data and Model Tests
●Detail:
My major research is about Earth’s middle and upper atmosphere and how it couples with space weather. This region is still difficult to understand because measurements are less reliable and models struggle to connect “atmosphere” and “space” processes. I use solar eclipses as a natural entry point: they are short, affect a limited area, and are predictable, so they work like a controlled experiment where sunlight is briefly off.
