The fantasy of the gendered brain in arbitration

<Detail>
The charm of arbitration lies in the parties’ power to choose arbitrators who will decide on their cases.
However, ever since the growth of arbitration in 20th century, parties have been regularly choosing male arbitrators,
not the female ones due to the fantasy of the male sexes’ powerful intelligences. The presentation
will shed light on this particular gender issue in the East Asian milieu.

Student Activism in Philippine Politics: Contentious Portrayals
<Detail>
In January 2021, the Philippine President and the Armed Forces repeatedly raised the spectre of "communist activists" in universities
(such as the University of the Philippines) as justification for police and military takeover. While this form of state prejudice is perennial, I would like to highlight longstanding reasons behind the persistent negative connotation against student activism in Philippine politics (of which the UP case is only one of many).
For this presentation, I look into the space and class politics that remain under-emphasized in Philippine social movement history.
